Former Qualcomm Vice President Ellen Kirk Brings Carrier Systems and
Mobile Wireless Industry Marketing Depth to Metro-Scale Wi-Fi Mesh Market Leader

– Tropos Networks, the proven leader in delivering truly ubiquitous, metro-scale, Wi-Fi
mesh network systems, today announced the addition of Ellen Kirk to its world-class executive
management team. Ms. Kirk will serve as Tropos Networks’ Vice President of Marketing. In her new
role, Ms. Kirk will be responsible for the continued market leadership of the Tropos and MetroMesh
brands, as well as all product, marketing and corporate communications activities worldwide.
Ms. Kirk brings more than 18 years of marketing and business development experience to Tropos Networks.
Prior to Tropos, Ms. Kirk served as Vice President, Business Development, in the CDMA Technologies Division
of Qualcomm, where she was responsible for creating W-CDMA handset strategies, defining initiatives for
accelerating migration to 3G, and driving adoption of location-based services worldwide. In this role,
Ms. Kirk was instrumental in creating global awareness of Qualcomm’s gpsOne technology as the dominant method
for locating wireless handsets. Ms. Kirk joined Qualcomm’s leadership team through its acquisition of
wireless-assisted GPS pioneer SnapTrack, Inc., where she was responsible for marketing and strategic planning.
In this position, Ms. Kirk drove the initiative that produced the FCC rule change permitting handset-based
location solutions to be compliant for wireless E9-1-1.
Prior to SnapTrack, Ms. Kirk held key merger and acquisition roles in wireless pioneer AirTouch Communications,
as well as investment banking leaders County Natwest International and Merrill Lynch.

Tropos Networks also announced that Bert Williams, formerly the company’s Vice President of Marketing,
will assume responsibility for product marketing of the Tropos MetroMesh products and services.
