Public Company Veteran's Addition to World-Class Executive Team Reflects Tropos' Building Momentum in the Mobile Internet Market Worldwide

SUNNYVALE, CA, March 22, 2007 - Tropos Networks, the market leader for metro-scale wireless mesh network systems, today announced the addition of Bill Slakey to its executive management team. Mr. Slakey will serve as Tropos Networks' Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.

Mr. Slakey is a seasoned financial executive who brings more than 20 years of experience strengthening company and financial operations and building relationships with Wall Street. He has held senior financial positions for leading public and private technology firms, including Extreme Networks, Handspring, Inc., WJ Communications, SnapTrack, Inc, Palm Computing, 3Com Corporation, and Apple Computer.

Prior to joining Tropos Networks, Mr. Slakey was Chief Financial Officer for Extreme Networks, a provider of enterprise and carrier switching products. While there, Mr. Slakey played an important role in the company's return to profitability. He also led Extreme's successful Sarbanes-Oxley compliance program.

Prior to Extreme, Mr. Slakey was Chief Financial Officer for Handspring, Inc. While there, he helped the company refocus its business on the newly created market for integrated smartphones, and played a key role in the company's successful merger with Palm Computing.

Mr. Slakey's well-rounded career also includes having served as the Chief Financial Officer of WJ Communications, a leading RF semiconductor company, and SnapTrack, Inc., a leading provider of advanced GPS technology to wireless carriers and semiconductor manufacturers which was acquired by QUALCOMM. He also has held senior finance and investor relations positions at 3Com, Apple and Palm Computing.

Mr. Slakey holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of California and an MBA from the Harvard Business School.
