"We are excited to be exhibiting our innovative 4.9 GHz/Wi-Fi Public Safety Networking Solutions at the APCO tradeshow," said Ron Sege, President and CEO of Tropos Networks. "With today's focus on homeland security, the services performed by first responders have never been more crucial. The ability to receive information in the field is critical, and Tropos' public safety solutions aimed at delivering increased effectiveness and efficiency accomplishes this goal."

The Tropos 4.9 GHz equipped MetroMesh routers are outfitted with both 4.9 GHz and 802.11b/g radios, and use Tropos' innovative SABRE policy-based routing. This allows public safety workers to access the network using either 4.9 GHz or 2.4 GHz devices, providing public safety agencies the flexibility to connect using more widely available Wi-Fi enabled devices, including laptops and PDAs, in addition to specialized 4.9 GHz devices. "With most municipal budgets as tight as ever, cost-effective solutions that improve the efficiencies of the existing public safety workforce are mandatory," said Sege.
