Webinar: “How OKC Built and Benefits from the World’s Largest Wi-Fi Mesh Network for Public Safety”

Guest Speaker: Mark Meier – Director, Information Technology Department, City of Oklahoma City

Learn how and why Oklahoma City, selected to build, operate, and own the world’s largest city-owned Wi-Fi mesh network and why the decision to use this technology was made.  The network is being used by mobile police officers, fire fighters, public works inspectors, transportation department, utility personnel and others providing them with 24-hour access to critical information that increases productivity, reduces response time, and improves their level of service to the community.  The network covers a 555 square-mile area with 95 percent service coverage in the city’s core.  The $5 million network is now in full operation.

You will also hear about the decision process used by Oklahoma City in selecting Tropos as well as recommendations on the critical steps you can take in building your own municipal Wi-Fi network.

Mark Meier is an Oklahoma City native and graduate of Oklahoma State University.  A retired Police Officer, Mark has been Director of Operations of a National Security Firm and is currently the Information Technology Director for the City of Oklahoma City.  Mark’s tenure as Director has been associated with dramatic improvements in customer satisfaction, system reliability, user productivity, strategic planning, technology management and innovation.
